What Generation Z Demands of The Workplace

Do you know What Generation Z Demands of The Workplace? The workplace is a dynamic environment. The lack of skilled personnel is burdening many companies and requiring them to make changes, and Corona has finally switched to hybrid. Gen Z anticipates a future brimming with employment possibilities. The findings of a survey conducted by Kantar for Zenjob involving participants from Germany, Great Britain, and the Netherlands support this as well.

17 percent of respondents believe that there is uncertainty about the future of the entire planet. However, 38% of respondents are at ease with the idea of their own future in the workplace.

Good salary is important for Gen Z

Gen Z appears to already be aware of their priorities: while picking a job, the younger generation gives top attention to a competitive income. Honest and direct communication and rewarding career prospects come next. For women, the importance of pay is much greater than for males (73 percent vs. 67 percent). This also holds true for direct and truthful communication.

Overall, the study’s findings show a consistent picture for the three covered nations. There are distinctions when it comes to work-life balance, though: 65 percent of the participants from Great Britain find the subject to be important. This figure is equal to 54% in Germany. Only 47% of participants in the adjacent country of the Netherlands find the matter to be relevant.

The survey’s findings also demonstrate that Gen Z does not desire to combine work and leisure. 68 percent of those surveyed think this way. Similar numbers of Gen Z representatives want to be able to freely choose how long they work (67 percent). The generation appears to disagree, nevertheless, on how the working hours should be split up during the day. Fixed hours are supported and opposed by equal margins of 50%.

The answer to the question of what kind of company Gen Z would prefer to work for is unclear: with 22% of the respondents, medium-sized businesses are just slightly ahead. Of those polled, 21% wish to work on their own. With 19%, public service comes in third. 17 percent of respondents polled prefer big businesses. The last category is startups, where only 13% of respondents said they would like to work.
